The site

Set in 72 acres of beautiful mixed woodland close to Beaconsfield in Buckinghamshire, Chiltern Woodland Burial Park is the largest of the three woodland cemeteries owned by the Woodland Burial Parks Company.

The brief

Maydencroft Rural were approached to find a sollution for having a suitable walkway through to a more exclusive burial area within the woodland. 

The solution

The answer was to design and install a bespoke wooden and recycled plastic boardwalk. As you can see from the photographs the boardwalk appears to be wooden but it's sub-structure is made from recycled plastic to prolong it's life and meet the exacting standards of the burial park. 

The result

The wonderful thing about the boardwalk is that it is in keeping with the woodland but also has no impact on its surroundings. No concrete was used or tree roots damaged, infact the boardwalk could be removed and no one would ever no it was there. This low-impact but long-term sollution is at the heart of the burial park's ethos.
