Reedbeds
Reedbeds are wetlands dominated by stands of the common reed Phragmites australis, where the water table is at or above ground level for most of the year.
They incorporate areas of open water and ditches, and small areas of wet grassland and carr woodland may be associated with them.
Reedbeds are amongst the most important habitats for birds in the UK. They support nationally rare birds including the bittern and Marsh Harrier.
Maydencroft Rural has experience in the creation and management of reedbeds. If you are looking into the formation of a reedbed or want to maintain an existing one, look no further than Maydencroft Rural.
Our clients include Herts and Middlesex Wildlife Trust, Buckinghamshire County Council and The RSPB.
